The people behind your investments

My role at St Barts Finance

I started with Nationwide as a Graduate Management Trainee and worked my way through many roles, before moving to Virgin Money. Most of my career has been in management, leading teams of mortgage advisers or managers.

As rewarding as it was to deliver large projects and help develop the careers of many employees, I always knew I wanted to return at some point to a role where I was in direct contact again with customers and clients. With that in mind, I joined St Barts several years ago, as a Mortgage and Protection Advisor.

Alongside the day to day advising, I assist with the management of St Barts and our three Yorkshire Building Society branches. I can honestly say I absolutely love everything I do.

Getting to know me

What’s something you’re proud of?
I think, for me, it was realising in my 20s that the scientific career I had trained for and worked in for 6 years wasn’t for me. It was then about having the courage of my convictions to work out what I really wanted to do, retrain, and go for it – I have had a long and successful career in Financial Services ever since.

Who inspires you?
Many people from many walks of life, but always those who overcome adversity, never give up, even when they are told it won’t work, or they can’t do it. I like to see a slightly rebellious determination in people.

What talents or hobbies do you have?
I used to be a half-decent Pool player as well as a poor singer in a band in London for 3 years. Although these days I seem to have an unexpected aptitude for gardening.

What’s your favourite thing to do on the weekends?
Long walks and then a glass or two of wine, combined with the enjoyment of the good company of family and friends.

“The St Barts team are fantastic and I couldn’t have done it without them!”
